*Red Hook Summer* Official Trailer (2012) [HD]

Spike Lee finally goes back to his roots by cutting the "major studios" out of this film.

This allows him to tell his story un checked and un watered down.

All I have to say is ...I CAN'T WAIT.

The Square ...From Peg By Peggi Trusty

Square Talk On Single People with SINGLE MINDED-NESS

So I have had a number of single people conversations as of late and have thus come to the conclusion that some of us are just CRAZY!! Many of us are so hurt, bitter, angry, impatient, demanding… and that is just the two-minute intro!! Bottom-line is that some of us are not getting married so stop being so mean and mad about it!! Stop making relationships… friendships… social interactions… so hard!! Accept each other, love each other, and stop being so worried about what you are going to get out of the deal!! If we can just learn how to build decent friendships and stop expecting and requesting the moon from each other… we would be happier. Learn to relax. Take your time and LIVE!! With so many of us being single, we really aren’t alone if we start building bridges instead of trying to conquer each other. Be happy. Life is good.

Peggi Trusty is the author of a collection of poetry called Unshackled and a novel about the sacrifice of Jesus Christ called Crucified.

ART TO ART with Raymond Tyler

Paul Mooney with Raymond Tyler

ART TO ART with Raymond Tyler

With ART TO ART-Writer, poet, journalist and ARTIST Raymond Tyler talks straight to the arts community. For more than 10 years, Raymond Tyler has introduced new artists through live venues, magazines, newspaper, TV and radio. He continues now focusing more than ever on building on the success of his name brands. Art To Art should be read as a sobering jump up point for discussion and for some it should be a wake up call.

Please keep your responses concise and respectful.

I CAME I SAW I CONQUERED…(Your Turn)
Looking back at the last few years I would be down right lying if I said I was a “self made man.” The truth of the matter is no one gets on top or even past the ground floor without help and a support system. To add more truth A) I am not on top B) to be where I am and to stay where I am and to go further, I am always refining and re-defining MY support system. I have been blessed that for every person who has stopped believing in me or worse yet themselves, God has replaced them. No God has up-graded them.

However, I learned early that the greatest network of friends, volunteers and mentors means nothing if I am not ready. The better prepared I am, the more motivated, the clearer my vision, means better results for everything.

I knew I wanted to be an artist early on in life. Some of my earliest memories have been of me wanting to be an artist, becoming an artist, getting good at my craft and then working to hone those skills so that I could share my work with a good deal of pride.

I CAME.

I SAW.

I CONQUERED.

Yes I have had the most incredible mentors, volunteers, and supporters one could ask for. However, at each step I have to step up. I have to say “what we did yesterday was good but it’s not enough.” I have to define and go after success myself.

As great as my support system is, they cannot pay MY dues. They cannot create my art and write MY voice. They cannot make me want to be a part of the world of art and creativity like I want to breathe.

And here’s a secret I should charge you for. When you as an artist become SERIOUS about YOUR CRAFT, no one in the world will stop you from being successful. Correction: the only one who can EVER stop YOU from being a SUCCESS is YOU.

We Remember: Yvette Wilson 1964-2012

Funny Lady

<><>
The funny and smart stand up comic/actress Yvette Wilson who played "Andell" on
Moesha was suffering with cervical cancer.

Miss Wilson was one of my favorite comics from the 1980's and 1990's because she was funny and very smart with her jokes.
She is a shinning example of the mix of fun, talent and intelligence that was the 1990's.
While many comics who nobody will remember ripped off Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor to no end, Miss Wilson actually took the time to create fresh and new material.
Then when she was a part of the cast of Moesha, she again presented a black woman who was caring and smart with out ever being mistaken for "mammy."

Thank God when I was "Moesha's" age I had an intelligent and cool adult in my life I could go to for sound advice.

I kind of loss track with Miss Wilson after Moesha, I could  catch her on TV here and there.
I was very saddened to hear of her passing.
She was only 48.

Healthy Summer Eating For Artists and People Who Love Us!

If you are like me and most artists I speak with?

We are so busy taking care of the creativity and the business. We do not give a lot of thought to our health.

One of the goals of The Little Wellness Arts Center is to create discussion groups, workshops, seminars, and videos that address our health and welfare as well as our creativity and business needs.

So with that said.

Please enjoy this video I shot discussing healthy eating choices during this Summer Barbecue Season.
