The Little WAC remembers RICHARD STREET of THE TEMPTATIONS

Temptations member Richard Street passes at age 70.

Singing with Temps founder Otis Williams since their days in The Distants, Street was a R&B and SOUL pioneer, if not one of the more "media driven" members of the group.

Little WAC remembers Lou "Mr. Gaines" Myers

Lou Leabengula Myers (September 26, 1935 – February 20, 2013)[1] was an American actor. Myers was typically typecast as a grumpy old man, but he has appeared in many movies, stage plays, television sitcoms, and dramas. He got his first break as an understudy in the Broadway play, The First Breeze of Summer as Reverend Mosley. He is probably best known as the feisty Mr. Vernon Gaines in the sitcom A Different World. Myers was also an accomplished pianist.

Torrey Maldonado Comes To AC Free Public Library

Author from projects to share impact of writing on his life
Youth ages 11 to 17 are invited to the Atlantic City Free Public Library’s Meet the Author program — featuring urban fiction writer Torrey Maldonado — at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
He wrote Secret Saturdays, which was selected in 2011 as an American Library Association Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers. His book has also been featured on ABC, NBC, and CNN.
Youth who want to discuss the book before Maldonado’s arrival can do so at 1 p.m. that day.
Maldonado grew up in the Red Hook projects in Brooklyn, where he now teaches in the public school system. The book is inspired by his experiences with city schools, fatherlessness and poverty.
Maldonado will share the story of how writing saved his life and helped distract him from the rough realities surrounding him.
For more information, please call the Youth Services Department at (609) 345-2269, ext. 3050.
